CHESHIRE, CT – Jim Jinks, candidate for State Senate in the 13th District, announced the filing of his campaign’s first-quarter financial report, showing significant momentum and broad community support. The campaign reported raising $13,292.00 since its launch January 6, 2026, putting it on a clear path to qualify for Connecticut’s Citizens’ Election Program (CEP) ahead of the campaign’s internal schedule.
Reflecting a commitment to transparency and clean elections, Jinks chose to participate in the CEP to ensure his campaign remains accountable to the voters of Cheshire, Meriden, Middlefield, and Middletown, rather than special interest groups or wealthy donors.
“Our campaign is about people, not PACs or lobbyists,” said Jim Jinks. “I am incredibly proud that our movement is being built from the ground up by neighbors who want a representative focused on the issues that matter to our families. We are proving that you can run a competitive, winning campaign while staying true to the community.”
Key Highlights from the Q1 Filing Include:
Community-Powered: Nearly 90% of the campaign’s donors reside within the towns of the 13th Senate District, demonstrating deep local support across Cheshire, Meriden, Middlefield, and Middletown.
Grassroots Scale: The average contribution to the campaign is approximately $48.50, highlighting a broad base of small-dollar donors rather than a reliance on a few wealthy individuals.
Special Interest Free: The campaign reported $0 in contributions from lobbyists, underscoring Jinks’ pledge to maintain an independent voice in Hartford.
CEP Progress: With over $13,000 raised in the first quarter, the campaign is well-positioned to lead the charge to win this seat and meet the $20,100 grassroots threshold required to qualify for the Citizens’ Election Program.
“Participating in the CEP was an easy choice,” Jinks added. “It levels the playing field and ensures that the residents of the 13th District, not special interests, are the ones who have a seat at the table in Hartford. We’re excited to carry this momentum into the campaign as we knock on doors and listen to voters.”
Born and raised in Connecticut, Jim has lived in District 13 for thirteen years with his wife, Marie, and their dog, C.J., while raising their four children. He works in the private sector, is a Cheshire Town Councilor since 2019, and is a dedicated community volunteer and organizer. For more information about the campaign, visit www.jimjinksct.com.
