State Senate Candidate, Jim Jinks, Joins Connecticut Vigils, Condemns Renee Nicole Good Killing

MIDDLETOWN, CT – Thursday night in Hartford and today in Middletown, Jim Jinks, candidate for Connecticut’s 13th State Senate District, joined hundreds of community members, clergy, labor leaders, and advocates to honor Renee Nicole Good. These events served as both memorials for a life lost and a mounting call for accountability following the recent ICE enforcement action that resulted in her death.

Jinks also issued a forceful statement addressing the incident, linking the tragedy to a broader shift in federal enforcement tactics and the deteriorating erosion of public trust in government institutions.  "It was only a matter of time for this to happen," said Jinks. "Trump has unleashed a force of unnecessary cruelty and lawlessness on America. Make no mistake, fear and cruelty is the point. When summary executions of American citizens are simply ICE ‘enforcement actions,’ all of our lives are clearly at stake."

Jinks expressed deep skepticism regarding the transparency of the ongoing federal investigation, citing discrepancies between official accounts and bystander footage of the encounter. "What’s even worse, we’re unlikely to be able to trust the investigation of this incident," Jinks continued. "The Administration is already contradicting what we can all see with our own eyes on the video of the incident. These are not the actions of legitimate governance. This cannot stand. There must be real consequences for everyone up the chain of command."

As a candidate for Connecticut’s 13th Senate District, which includes Meriden, Middlefield, Middletown, and Cheshire, Jinks has made the protection of civil liberties and the safety of all Connecticut residents a central pillar of his campaign. He pledged to continue working with state leaders to ensure Connecticut remains a bulwark against federal overreach and a sanctuary for the rule of law.
